Very pleased that ‘Gaze’ was selected by Dr Ryya Bread for ExLibris group show at Tremenheere gallery, Gulval, Cornwall. Whilst reading Derrida’s lecture ‘The animal that therefore I am’ at college I came across numerous references to the gaze of animals, in Derrida’s case the cat, but here I have depicted a chimp. Excellent source photographs are easy to find on the net and in magazines, they inspire me to keep painting, the humanity in this chimps eyes transports me.
